This association was created in March 2004 by partners of the European project on how to take sustainable development into account in land planning and urban renewal projects.
This European association is one of the HQE²R European project’s results. This research and demonstration HQE²R project dealt with urban land planning and regeneration projects management towards sustainability and was supported by the European Commission inside the 5 th Research and Development Framework Programme (Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development Programme, Key Action 4 « City of tomorrow and cultural heritage »). This collective decision from all the HQE²R research partners was officially announced during the European HQE²R conference in Cannes (F) the 2 nd and 3 rd of February 2004.
The objectives of the association
The aim of this web site is to share and capitalise experience and knowledge (methods, tools, etc.) in order to make our urban projects go towards sustainability. The final objective is to improve the quality of life for everybody in all our neighbourhoods, cities, conurbations, regions, etc.
The objectives of the association are (cf. art. 2 in the statutes):
- TO GATHER ALL THE ACTORS involved in urban management and in urban development: the European association for a sustainable urban development wants to be the link between all the actors involved or concerned by the sustainable urban development in order to improve the quality of life for everyone.
- TO CAPITALIZE knowledge (approaches and tools), know how and experiences in order to close the gap between knowledge and practice.
- TO PROPOSE approaches, tools, thinking, researches, etc.: The European association aims at becoming a proposal power for urban projects at various scales (territorial, thematic, sectorial or professional) through working groups, European Research and demonstration projects, …
- TO DISSEMINATE approaches, tools and results from research and demonstration projects, TO INFORM and TO AWARE all the actors.
- TO TRAIN professionals and tomorrow experts.
